Grounds Committee

The Grounds Committee basically is responsible for the infrastructure of Deerwood - its streets, lakes and drainage system. There are approximately 16 miles of streets in Deerwood, all owned and maintained by the Deerwood Improvement Association (DIA) and its homeowners. A paving fund exists and is contributed to each year as a reserve fund for street repaving when necessary.

In addition to the 45 lakes inside Deerwood, there are approximately 450 drainage pipes of various sizes, made of varying materials and initially installed at different times during Deerwood's 43-year history. Together, the lakes and drainage pipes provide the flooding protection for the entire community. Approximately 20% of the lakes and drainage areas are on Deerwood Country Club property and are the responsibility of the club. All others belong to DIA and are maintained by DIA through the Grounds Committee.

The Grounds Committee meets as necessary to address issues that arise with regard to the streets, lakes and drainage.
